Where and how you should celebrate this Christmas

This is the period where most of people celebrate Christmas together with their families. As you pass through different shopping centers and malls, you will notice that everyone is busy buying this and that as a preparation for “door knocking” Christmas. In regardless of the fact that most of the commodities in the market, are at higher prices due to increased demands still people find their ways to satisfy their needs as Christmas approaches. At this spot of moment, goods like clothes, decorations and food staffs are in great demands at every corner of the country.

THE COMMON TREND CELEBRATION
In Tanzania people celebrates Christmas in different ways just to please themselves and the beloved ones. There is common trend of celebration that has been growing in many people especially when it comes to holidays like X-Mass. It has been noticed that, others spend their Holiday by visiting their relatives within their respective Regions and even others outside their respective Regions like Chaga does. And those who do not think like visiting anyone, they just spend their time in different leisure and recreational places with their friend or even families drinking and eating sumptuous meals while exchanging word with their companies. Others will attend night clubs, pubs, groceries, swimming pools, and different arranged music concerts.

THE CALM, ENJOYABLE, TRANQUIL, AND BREATH TAKING CELEBRATION
This is very contrary to other countries in the world compared to Tanzania, where the leisure and recreational activates are met or can be met in a way that people are enjoying themselves while avoiding the external world in a breath taking manner during the holydays like Christmas. Turning back to Tanzania, it is the fact that, the country is blessed with diverse of natural and cultural attractions that most of people grow from zero age to adults even to aged without seeing them or experience them physically. These places are ranging from national parks; game reserves, marine reserves with abundance of astonishing flora and fauna while lying in very beautiful physical environments such as Serengeti National Park, Saadani National Park, Saanane National Park, Ngorongoro Crater just few to mention. Also the country keeps different places with varieties of historical back grounds some of them are world heritage like Zanzibar stone town, Kilwa Kisiwani, Kilwa kivinje and Kondoa Rock art Site. All these beautiful places should be visited in by Tanzanians themselves, because Foreigners are coming a long way and spend a lot just to encounter and experience them, what about fellow Tanzanian who they just found at their door steps?

Its’ about time now, the Tanzanians to discover and give a curious eye, about the hidden truth of their country’s beauty that the outside world strive to experience

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro for economic diplomacy

Minister Membe, handling a national flag to leader of expedition as ambassadors climb Mountain Kilimanjaro
This is among the deliberate efforts that the government of Tanzania has taken, which as the citizens of Tanzania we should join hands. The ministry of Foreign affairs and International cooperation, under Mr. Bernard Membe (the Minister) has launched the campaign for local and foreigner to scale Kilimanjaro Mountain, targeting a ten-fold increase in the current number of trekkers.
Mr. Membe said in a bid to enhance economic diplomacy his ministry had resolved to use the ambassadors as driving force and catalyst of change to guarantee more foreign envoys, diplomats and foreigners come to scale the mountain and called for more efforts domestically to make sure more people can scale the mountain.
“It is a shame that only 2,000 Tanzanians and 50,000 foreigners scaled mountain Kilimanjaro in 2013/2014. This mountain is a mammoth and exceptional thing, one of the world heritage sites and one of the seven natural wonders of the world” he said.

Domestic Tourism Promoters Organization (DOTOPO) and with no doubts acknowledge the efforts that has been taken by ministry of Foreign affairs and International cooperation to promote tourism in Tanzania particularly, Domestic tourism. In a long run, this will not have the impact only in the Mountain but also to other crucial tourism honey pots available in Tanzania. Because we believe it’s a right time Tanzanian themselves, should value the resources that act as vital tourism attractions and also use them for their own and country’s benefits.

For that matter, in order to increase the number of tourists that climbing Kilimanjaro and also increase the number of tourists (both foreigners and locals) visiting others tourists attraction in Tanzania, there has to be a clear mechanism that will involve all the vital stakeholders within tourism industry and outside the industry to join efforts in the whole process of taking this fragile Industry to a next level. Among the issues that have to be considered by the stakeholders is to be creative in the promotion of tourism industry such as use of technological advancement and differentiated marketing strategies.

Made by Tourism

In many countries Tourism industry is gaining a much bigger priority among the economic sectors available in particular countries.  It has been witnessed that, most of the economic contribution that are gained by different countries, originate from tourism activities. An empirical example is like Tanzania in 2012 alone it generated 1712.75 (US $ Million) making it the economic sector with highest contribution in Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Apart from that, tourism industry touches other economic sectors and accounted as one of the important catalyst which contributes to their developments. The increased people mobility has augmented demand in tourist destinations. Such demands are like food, accommodation, security, infrastructures, social services (clean water, hospitals, education), and increased trade and businesses just few to mention. For this matter, tourism contributes to either direct employment in tourism industry or indirect employment to other industries as explained above.

Even at the individual level tourism plays a great impact to personal development in immeasurable ways in regardless whether it’s a tourist or service provider. In this matter the individuals can attain both physical and psychological well being from the tourism activities. Also Individual can increase his/her social capital through meeting different people, understanding of other people’s culture, enjoyment, to increase the knowledge of different things and many more not limited to that.

In a country like Tanzania having distinguished varieties of tourism attractions both natural and cultural attractions, it’s about time now the Government and other players starts to think of tourism as a "HOT CAKE" sector which needs to be given a special attention due to its’ contribution from an individual level to national level.

At the right time, at the right situation and at the right Country

It’s about time now Domestic tourism should gain its new image in Tanzania regarding the fact that, International Tourism is facing the challenges that have no local controls and seems to be difficult to resist them. In this kind of situation, Domestic tourism seems to be the right solution to the gapes that has been left by International tourism. The gapes that are referred are such as restrained economic gains, unemployment due to redundancy, social gains and many more of the same reflection. Tanzania tourism industry is among the industries that are major victims of the matters that have no local origin which affects badly tourism industry and neglects the country to have fool exploitation of tourism potentials that are available in the country. Empirical examples of situations that have in the history of Tanzania led international tourism not to perform impressively include recession in world economies in 1973 and 2008-2009, enormous increase in oil prices from 1973 and drought of 1974. Other events are closure of Kenya - Tanzania border in 1977, the Uganda War of 1978/79, the September 11, 2001 attack to World Trade Centre in USA, Westgate terrorists attack in 2013 in Kenya, denial of the citizens coming from USA, UK and Australia to visit Kenya due to terrorists attack in 2013, Ebola eruption in West Africa in 2014 and other terrorism events in the northern hemisphere. Apart from that, international tourism is very susceptible to poor tourism infrastructure, and bad press publicity. Besides, the intense competition for overseas tourists especially with other countries offering similar products like Kenya, Zimbabwe, Zambia, South Africa and Uganda affects the tourism sector performance in Tanzania. With the country like Tanzania lying in the second position after Brazil for having blessed with natural tourism attraction such as Mountain Kilimanjaro, Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, beautiful beaches and a diversity of people with different cultures which creates a basic ground for development of Cultural tourism in Tanzania just few to mention.

The question is that, who is going to join hands with DOTOPO to promote Domestic tourism in Tanzania? Tanzania population is now growing very fast reaching about 44,928,923 people, which create a basic ground for readily Domestic Market in Tanzania.
